Premier League Penguin left no doubt that they were in for the long haul when they easily accounted for last season's premiers Ulverstone defeating them by 34 shots after sharing the rinks.

The win was set up by the Julian Brown, Peter French, Micalah Gibson, G Haywood rink who took the Eden Moore rink to the cleaners defeating them by 22 shots 37-15.

Not far behind was the Jacob Brown, Grant Youd, Colin Brown, Dave Jeffries rink who also had a good day defeating Sam McLean 31-15.

For the Robins Alan Carver and Chris Dudman both recorded narrow wins but their wins went nowhere near to covering the two big Penguin wins.

The loss by Ulverstone at this stage of the season must begin to cause a little concern for the Robins.

Latrobe may have put an end to any chance the Port Sorell Sharks may have harboured of playing in the finals when they defeated them on three rinks by 17 shots 104-87.

The leading scorer for the Demons was the Garry Courtney, Callus Butler, Graeme Moore, Graham Hay rink who defeated Luke Marshall 26-14 Tim Douce had 11 shots to his credit against Josh Marshall defeating him 29-18 and brother Greg made it a bad day for the Marshall clan when he defeated Paul 29-23.

It was left to Aaron Jago, Codi Marshall, Shane Buckley and Ebony White to salvage two points for the Port defeating Anthony Johns 32-20. As predicted South Burnie have moved into fourth position on the ladder by virtue of their 34 shot 3 rink winning margin over the hapless Cats.

The win was largely due to the Rick Richardson, Substitute, Peter O'Donnell, Geoff Wiseman rink who scored far too often for Tony Haneveer and his crew defeating them 39-19.

Jaryd Brown with good support from Tom Duff, Fabian Smith and Marcus McCarthy had a good 23-15 shot win over Justin Redman and Cameron Windram defeated Andrew Woodard 26-17. The Cats only winner was the Grant Crowe rink who finished three to the good of Joshua Appleyard 26-23.

Once again the predictions were correct when it chose Burnie to defeat the Devonport Eagles which they did comfortably by 25 shots winning on 3 rinks. Mark Nitz well supported by Nigel Melbourne, Trevor Carpenter and Patrick Saltmarsh doubled Mike Higginson's score defeating him 26-13. Equally impressive was the David Gamble, Jason Morrisby, Robert Pyke, Baylen Jones quartet who got the better of Ian Moore 29-16.

To finish off a good day for the Tigers, Patrick Smith rink finished 7 shots up against Clinton Steers. It was left to Tristan Bakes, Dean Martin Paul Harker and Trent Lowrie to restore some respectability to the Eagles scoreline by defeating Jeremy Turner 31-23. The win by the Tigers sees them maintain their position on top of the ladder by 9 points.
