Mr Brown said he considered the false claims to be so serious they warranted a term of imprisonment.
Taking into account Hanks' prior good character and the "bizarre" circumstances, Mr Brown suspended her three month jail sentence for two years.
Hanks had to pay the court costs and levees of $68.04.
