The crash occurred between a truck and a car on Penquite Road near the Wentworth Street intersection.
Tasmania Police believe the alleged offender of two separate robberies was involved in the crash.
IN OTHER NEWS:
The first robbery happened at the Ravenswood BWS on Castlemain Road and the second at Waverley's Top Shop on the Tasman Highway.
Both incidents happened between 3.30pm and 3.45pm.
The crash occurred about 5.20pm.
No other members of the public have been injured.
