Tasmania's oldest bus touring operators Redline have lent their support behind the new owners of the Scamander Beach Resort. The hotel was recently purchased by accommodation operator Vision Hotels.

Director of vision Brendon Deeley said the company hoped its takeover of the hotel would help build Scamander into a prime tourism location.
Redline spokesperson Stuart Harris said the bus operator welcomed the rejuvenation of the hotel as a step forward for coach tourism on the East Coast.
"East Coast tourism continues to grow rapidly and the accommodation needs of independent travellers have been catered for by the growing Airbnb market," he said.
"However, large tour operators such as Tasmania's Own Redline have, in recent years, [have] found it increasingly difficult to accommodate large coach tours of up to 70 people in the one establishment."

Redline used to stop at Silver Sands at Bicheno before its closure in 2015.
"The demise of Silver Sands at Bicheno, with its picture-perfect location and large capacity has had a major impact on tourist coaches," Mr Harris said.
"The Scamander Resort rejuvenation will gain back some of the rooms that have been lost with Silver Sands and will also allow for an additional stop on the East Coast resulting in longer tours.
"The potential to add an additional night will result in more time spent on the coast, more time to visit local tourism businesses and in turn more money spent at wineries, shops and and attractions along the coast."
