So for Launceston comedian and actress Kerri Gay, being involved was the opportunity of a lifetime.
"This was the real deal," she said. "It was like I was standing in the middle of a magazine or something."
Ms Gay has a small role as a dance instructor in the show, and said being on set around her acting idols was "mind-blowing".
"One day I was sitting in a caravan with this group of female actors who I had watched all my life, on Flying Doctors, A Country Practice, all the shows that I'd watched growing up," she said.
"These actresses were sitting there with me having a cup of tea with me, and I had to be really keep my cool and not ask to take 1000 photos.
"This lady I was talking to was the stunt lady from the Matrix. We just got to talking, and I asked her what she did and she said you know, some stunts.
"It turns out that she is the most famous stunt woman. She started showing me how they did the Trinity stunt where she's hanging from a helicopter and then swings through the window."
The show stars Emma Booth, Ewan Leslie, and Aaron Pedersen, who was most recently in outback crime drama Mystery Road.
"I just kept pinching myself, saying, 'oh my god, I'm talking to Aaron Pedersen'," Ms Gay said.
"He is one of my most favourite actors. I flew to Sydney once to see him in a play at the Opera House, and now we're talking over a coffee in this little tent."
The Gloaming hired a range of Tasmanians to participate in the show.
Its creator and showrunner, Vicki Madden, lives in Launceston.
The eight-episode series follows two police officers who have a mysteriously linked past solve a murder in Hobart, while unexplained, supernatural occurrences are taking place.
Ms Gay said it was incredible watching her friend, Vicki Madden, at work on the set.
"I never realised how important, creative, and mind-blowing of a woman she is until I got to the set and saw what she created," she said.
"I walked into this hall and there were thousands of dollars of equipment and famous people everywhere - everyone I googled was someone who had done all these fabulous things.
"It was really mind-blowing to think that was my friend who had done this, from her little house in Launceston."
- The Gloaming will be available on online streaming platform Stan as a whole season from January 1.
