Following the 'Year of the North' in 2019 the council will be throwing its weight behind supporting regional areas statewide, chief executive Luke Martin said.
"We need a really big peak season this summer," he said. "A lot of regional areas around the state were hit by fires and we've seen the vulnerability around that, so we really want this season to be a big one."
There will be a competition asking Tasmanians to vote for their favourite tourist town in February.
He mentioned Richmond in the south, whiskey experiences at places like Oatlands, and mountain bike trails at St Helens and Derby as examples of small towns with positive public or private investment taking place.
"In the next six to 12 months we'll be ... looking at local government and some investments that they need to make and how we can support and fund them," he said.
