Chasing 222, the 26-year-old was faced with an uphill battle when captain Tom Waller arrived at the crease with the scoreboard grimacing at 4-21.

The pair put on a record 125-run fifth-wicket stand before Philip added another 76 with dynamic Dane Anders Bulow to finish on a splendid 120 not out.

"I loved batting with those two, they're terrific fellas off the field and good to bat with on the field," Philip said.

"They like running hard between the wickets and it was really good to turn over the strike and things like that.

"They're really calm at the crease and pretty fun out there as well when they're in."

Philip's knock featured 11 fours and three sixes - the last of which ended the game - and came off just 104 balls.

The innings came one week after an equally impressive 88 not out and was his seventh score of 84 or more in the past year and a half.

"I wasn't nervous, I just had to change my gameplan a little bit," he said.

"They had a couple of bowlers out so I knew if I got through the first 20 overs it'd get easier as the day went on and it did.

"I tried to be a bit counterattacking and put the game back onto them."

The physio's next challenge is to help his side secure silverware in January's Greater Northern Cup finals.

"We've got to the semi-finals before - I think we make the finals most years but haven't really capitalised on that," Philip said.

"We've got some different training tactics in place at the moment so hopefully we do better this year than in previous years.

"I think we've got a side capable to win it but as always we just need players to stand up when they're required."
