The Tasmanian Fire Service has declared a Total Fire Ban for all municipalities in the South.
Deputy Regional Chief Phil Smith said the heat on Friday pushes the fire danger rating to very high in several districts and severe in the Upper Derwent Valley.
He added that the TFS will no longer issue fire permits in the southern region for the remainder of summer due to the number of incidents TFS has responded to involving out-of-control burn-offs on private property.
"People are also being encouraged to consider other methods for disposing vegetation waste, even if the pile they plan to burn is under a cubic metre," Chief Smith said.
