THE Examiner photographer Neil Richardson has been capturing significant Tasmanian events for 34 years. His experience is invaluable and in the past 12 months, Richardson has again been at his best behind the lens capturing breaking news celebrations and more light-hearted moments of life. Richardson said his favourite picture of the year was of five-year-old Isla Wells as a preview to a South Launceston Football Club fundraiser for her and her family.

Isla, who was born with Apert syndrome and has already endured 13 life-saving surgeries, was in her element running around with a footy at Youngtown Oval. Richardson also loved the colour and beauty of a male sea dragon carrying eggs at Beauty Point's Seahorse World.
