McSweyn, the self-declared "Mayor of King Island", is part of 27-man field for what is the main event at Zatopek:10, which is described by Athletics Australia as "a celebration of Athletics featuring the Australian 10,000m Championships and the Victorian State Championships".
The 24-year-old won last year's crown in a Tasmanian-record time of 27:50.89, taking control of the race after around 14 minutes.
McSweyn, who will compete at the Christmas Carnival Series, has had another strong year, including making the 5000m final at the World Athletics Championships in Doha, bettering his 1500m personal best and helping Eliud Kipchoge break two hours for the marathon.
Also in the field at the Box Hill Athletics Track will be fellow North-West Coast product Douglas Hamerlok.
Other Tasmanians listed to compete include Stawell Gift winner Jacob Despard in the men's 100 yard run, James Hansen in the 1500m and Ruby Smee in the women's 3000m.
