TasTAFE chief executive Jenny Dodd said the decision to stage relocation of students from Launceston to Alanvale was made due to work still needing to be done on the redevelopment of Alanvale.
However, she said the timelines for all students to relocate was still "broadly the same" and that there would not be a delay.
The master plan for the new and improved Alanvale campus is being worked through and the decision to stage students was due to minimise disruption for students at Launceston.
She said the transition period for relocation had been mapped out as between January and July in 2020.
RELATED STORIES:
"The only area that might take a bit longer is nursing so we are working through an October intake to be ready to begin up at Alanvale."
Nursing students will continue at the city campus until then.
It was revealed in October that TasTAFE was poised to make a consolidation to the Alanvale campus, with moves to sell and reinvest from the sale of the Launceston city campus.
Drysdale is to remain where it is in Patterson Street.
Ms Dodd said TasTAFE had developed a part of its website to communicate with students and staff about the move.
"The website is the one point of truth so if students are concerned about where they will be studying, they will find the answer there."
There is still no confirmation about what will happen to the Launceston city campus and Ms Dodd said the sale process was still ongoing.
She said it would be at the discretion of the state government when the sale process would begin.
