With a cooler than average start to the holiday season, the temperatures are set to rise, but not by much according to Bureau of Meteorology meteorologist Luke Johnston.
Mr Johnston said while Monday's weather was warmer than average, Northern temperatures are expected to return to an average of low to mid 20 degrees for the rest of the week.

Westerly winds are expected with multiple cold fronts also anticipated.
Mr Johnston said the westerly winds would be more like a westerly breeze that should result in some clear skies with scattered clouds around the North East and East.
He also said the climate outlook for Tasmania predicted cooler than average temperatures through December and average temperatures for January.
Most of Australia, with the exception of southern Victoria, is predicted to experience a hotter summer compared to Tasmania according to Mr Johnston.
"We'll still have warmer days ... but it looks like on the hole we'll be fairly average whereas all over the mainland it looks like it will be one of those extra hot summers that have been all the rage," he said.
