George Town Council's community development officer Rhonda O'Sign said the parade was the highligh December event for the town.
"[The parade] will be followed by the free community Christmas Carols in the Graham Fairless Centre," Ms O'Sign said.
"Hosted by Dan and Marie from ChilliFM, this year's carols will see many local performers, along with the West Tamar Brass Band and the West Tamar Choir."
The carols will start at 7pm.
In other news:
The parade will feature several local floats from schools and community groups as well as the Launceston YMCA and Bee Bop Dancers.
The much-loved parade has been running for 33 years, according to Ms O'Sign.
"The parade's always been well visited," she said.
"It's a wonderful, free event and we encourage everyone to come along and get in the Christmas spirit."
It is also rumoured that Santa will make an appearance during the parade.
He is expected to pose for photos and will be taking notes on what the children of George Town want for Christmas.
The parade will make its way from Macquarie Street to Regent Square, with plenty of activities available for children at the Regent Square Park playground.
"There's a lot to do for kids before the parade starts and when it ends," Ms O'Sign said.
"It's a great atmosphere around the parade and there'll be so much to do."
There will be road closures at Goulburn, Macquarie, Sorell, Bathurst and Elizabeth streets for various hours during the parade.
