A tremendous effort is underway to make sure a stranded pilot whale makes its way back to sea after becoming beached at Kingston on Saturday night.
Vision on the Whale Spotting Tasmania Facebook group shows a team of Marine Conservation Program responders from the Department of Primary Industries, Parks Water and Environment and volunteers are shown moving the whale off the beach and into the Derwent River.
According to the Marine Conservation Program, the whale was re-floated at 3am on Sunday morning.

However, the whale became re-stranded at Opossum Bay about 5am.
Residents in the area managed to guide the whale back into the Derwent with the public encouraged to keep an eye out for the creature with a possibility it may become re-stranded.
