Meander Valley Council mayor Wayne Johnston said the previous system relied on consecutive days of sunlight to generate enough heat for the water.
"This new system is based on pumped heat and ensures the pool remains at a constant 24 degrees," he said.
"The new system provides more reliable heating, even if the weather is a little unpredictable.
"Swimmers will not have to brace themselves before dipping their toes in the water, nor will they have to wait a few days for the pool to reach a comfortable temperature."
Installation was timed to coincide with the start of the pool season, which commenced on December 1.
Sadly it still means the pool season will only run from December through to February.
The Deloraine Rotary Club will run its Learn to Swim and Water Safety program in January, for children over the age of five, with enrolment day on January 2.
Cr Johnston said as it was a free initiative he encouraged all parents to consider enrolment.
"Providing children who cannot swim with the skills they need to save themselves is invaluable," he said.
The pool is open Tuesday to Sunday from 11am to 5pm in December and February, and from 11am to 6pm in January.
The pool is closed on Mondays, Christmas Day and Boxing Day.
