France takes out team competition in World Fly Fishing Championships

The event began on November 30 and will officially wrap up on Sunday, December 8.

The competition itself took place over five days, with teams from 23 countries took to Penstock Lagoon, Little Pine Lagoon, Woods Lake, the Meander River, and the Mersey River from December 2.

In the individual competition, England's Howard Croston won first place with 32,980 points, 41 fish, and a longest fish of 502.

Coming in second was Spain's David Garcia, and third was Souvlakia's Kristian Sveda.

Despite leading earlier in the competition, Tasmanian Jonathan Stagg placed 12^th, with Australian Tom Jarman at 25^th.

Though Australia was in front of the teams competition as of Thursday afternoon, France shot in front and claimed gold with 109,420 points and 144 fish.

The Czech Republic took out second place, and Spain third.

Australia placed seventh.
