Transfer of management responsibility from TasRail to the respective groups is required before work on the projects can begin.
Now that both houses have approved that process, the next step is for the Minister for Infrastructure and Transport Michael Ferguson to assign the new managers of each section of the corridor, which is expected to happen early next year.
The Lilydale to Turners Marsh section will be transferred to volunteer organisation Launceston and North East Rail, with the intention of transferring further sections all the way to Launceston if the group's plans prove viable.
The Scottsdale to Lilydale Falls section will be transferred to the Dorset Council.
