It's the third year the Lilydale Lions Club has given away Santa suits, the first year they had about 30 Santas but this year the number rose to 115.
Club president Colin Pryce said it helped local businesses, with one shop thanking the club as it had increased its revenue ten-fold with the extra visitors last year.
"The lion went up on Saturday on the Sunday we had a market on over here and my daughter sent me a photo of (the lion)," he said.
"The only difference being my daughter lives in the Blue Mountains, she sent me a photo because she saw it online.
"It goes all over the world because people stop and take photos and send them home, whether they come from Japan or Perth (WA), it goes everywhere."
IN OTHER NEWS:
Santas are scattered around the town with Santa taking form in a canoe, as a polar bear and alongside Mrs Claus.
The best father Christmas will be given a $50 gift voucher for anywhere in Lilydale and after the Santa's are taken down in the New Year, a People's Choice will be awarded.
Coordinator Stephen Griffin said they closed the suit giveaway two weeks ago but people were still trying to get their hands on them.
"The only reason we started was my wife was on the computer one day and she saw it over somewhere in NSW and another town was doing it and she said this would be good for the Lions," he said.
"We give them out, we don't ask for anything all we ask them to do is stuff them and put them up."
Mr Griffin said tourists loved it, with some stopping in the middle of the road to take photos.
Club member Scott Livingston built the lion sculpture last year and has recreated it again this year in the town centre to add the lions club's touch to the project.
