The 24-year-old Bridport man died at the scene of the single-vehicle crash on Tuesday evening. There were no passengers in the vehicle.
Tasmania Police crash investigator Michal Rybka said investigations were still continuing.
"The vehicle was travelling on the highway on a slight up-hill section. It has entered a right-hand sweeping curve and upon entering that curve the driver has lost control," he said.
"The vehicle has subsequently left the highway and traveled into bushland. The vehicle has then struck a large tree driver's-side first, shooting the tree off at its base."

Another motorist passing by saw the headlights in the trees, and called emergency services.
It is unknown how long the vehicle had been in the bush before it was found.
"On arrival of the ambulance unfortunately the male drive was pronounced deceased," Mr Rybka said.
Police said early investigations indicated speed was a factor, and investigations about drugs and alcohol would be determined in coming weeks.
The limit on the particular part of the Tasman Highway was 100km/h.
Police said the weather was windy, but conditions were dry.
The man's next of kin has been notified. His name has not been publicly released.
The car involved was a white Hyundai sedan.
The crash occurred about 9pm, about 15 kilometres from Scottsdale between Tonganah and Rocky Gully.
Police reminded motorists to be safe.
"You need to take the time and think about it. Slow down. Everyone wants you home at the end of the day," Mr Rybka said.
