Next year, the event will be held in conjunction with Regional Arts Australia annual conference, Artlands, that will see more than 400 delegates attend.
The conference was how the idea of Junction first came about, and festival director Greg Clarke said there was no better time for the conference to return to Launceston than in Junction's 10th year.
Regional Arts Australia executive director Ros Abercrombie said what Junction has managed to do in the last 10 years was extraordinary.
"There's a lot of commentary around Tasmania, and there's a lot of commentary about regional arts in Tasmania," she said.
Ms Abercrombie said being able to bring a national voice, arts organisations and leaders into that space was significant.
"To then be able to have that conversation and that it back to Canberra to inform policy making and agenda setting for the next ten years is really important."
She hopes the conference brings an open mind, a series of conversations from across the country and respect to Launceston.
Tasmanian artists are authentic and do it their own way, which leads the contemporary practise, Ms Abercrombie said.
City of Launceston mayor Albert van Zetten said Junction had been an amazing success story for Launceston, and any conference coming to the city was fantastic.
Junction Arts Festival will be held in September 2020.
