Conara may get a new $170,000 park at the corner of Panec Street and Conara Road, after a concept plan was accepted by the Northern Midlands Council.
The plan is to replace and relocate the existing park at Panec Street and Midland Highway, where visitors had been camping illegally, with a new park, playground, barbecue, picnic shelter and a toilet.
Council's community and development manager Amanda Bond said the Department of State Growth removed amenities at the old site due to vandalism.
"Conara is a popular place for travellers to the East Coast of Tasmania to stop and rest.
"With the removal of the public toilet and barbecue shelter there are few amenities to attract travellers to stop."

The Department of Primary Industries and Water own the land and NMC will contact it regarding the transfer of the land, with plans to release the plan for public comment following a decision.
The council will consider the development in the 2020/21 budget deliberations and will seek external funding to support the project.
