November might nearly be over, but nurse Luke Cameron is determined to make every moment count. Mr Cameron said growing his facial hair was a bit like "accidentally wiping my lip with soot when lighting the fire".
But while things may be a little slow to grow, Mr Cameron said it was a no-brainer to take up the Movember cause.
"Some conversations can be a little uncomfortable to have with your loved ones, however it is important that these talks are had even if it is asking 'you haven't seemed yourself lately, is everything OK?'," he said.
Movember aims to change the face of men's health by having conversations about prostate and testicular cancer, as well as mental health and suicide prevention.
Mr Cameron said he had been left speechless by support, exceeding his $500 target.
"Growing a 'mo' is not a strong point for me, but if it starts a conversation, I am happy to put myself out there."
