School Strike 4 Climate organisers instead handed her adviser Charles Headlam a large banner with messages about the need for action on climate change.
Mr Headlam said Mrs Archer was "not a climate change denier" and would be happy to pass on their concerns to relevant government ministers.
Separate group Extinction Rebellion said they had been trying to contact Mrs Archer for a meeting since May with no result.
But Mrs Archer said it was because she was not available on the dates proposed: "I am always open to listening to the views of the community, however they have not demonstrated a willingness for a collaborative approach and indeed MPs have received correspondence from this group threatening to block the route to the airport for MPs if their demands aren't met," she said.
Protesters also raised $500 for the Red Cross Bushfire Appeal.
