Chairman Don Jones joined the organisation a few years ago after being involved with Action Against Homelessness on the North West Coast.
"When I came to Launceston I looked for charitable things again and moved to the Benevolent Society to see what I could do about assisting people," he said.
"Everything we receive here is donated to us - we don't have any shops, we don't sell or anything of that nature, we just give to those in need."

Mr Jones said a point of emphasis for this Christmas was encouraging the donation of toys for children.
"Normally, after Christmas we get quite a few donations of toys that people didn't really want for Christmas, which is great," he said.
"But we'd like to get some before Christmas so those young people who are missing out get something.
"The whole spirit of community is disappearing so this year let's try and get it back."
The Launceston Benevolent Society is one of four charities annually supported by The Examiner through the Empty Stocking Appeal.
