The two-vehicle crash on Wednesday occurred after 5pm at the intersection of Tamar and Cimitere Streets.
Police are asking motorists to avoid the area or anticipate delays until the scene is cleared.
Tasmanian Ambulance attended the crash but at this stage no injuries have been reported.
