The development application for a mixed-use tourism development at Glencoe, Falmouth was approved by the Break O'Day Council at its meeting on Monday.
The planning submission, put together by Rebecca Green and Associates, said the development would sensitively transform the historic farmstead into a new commercial tourism site.
The site would have guest dining, meeting rooms, a shop, gallery, bar, cafe, kitchen, and administration offices for the nearby accommodation.
New toilets would also be added near the Glencoe farmstead, allowing the area to be used for functions and weddings.
The nearby visitor accommodation would comprise of 10 single bedroom suites, which would have a kitchenette, dining area, lounge, bedroom, and ensuite with an entry deck and main deck.
Alongside this, the site would also have 50 sites for recreational vehicles and 25 spaces for camping, with the inclusion of an amenities building.
Also discussed at the meeting was proposed social housing at Scamander.
A petition against the potential sale of public land and building of the social housing in the town was presented to the council.
The proposed development was for a site at Lot 20, Oberon Place, which would consist of eight dwellings each with two bedrooms, one bathroom, and an open plan kitchen, dining, and living space.
Community housing provider Centacare Evolve Housing was behind the proposal.
Centacare Evolve Housing owns or manages more than 1700 properties across the state. Most are classified as social housing and are allocated from the Housing Connect waiting list.
More than 200 applicants on the social register are seeking housing in the Break O'Day municipality.
The development will no longer go ahead.
The plan was under fire by some members of the community who said Scamander was not the right place for this kind of development due to a lack of amenities.
Some residents were also concerned about potential devaluation of their properties.
