A 14-year-old staff member was assaulted with a small axe during an armed robbery at Launceston's Cold Rock Ice Creamery on Saturday night.

Tasmania Police attended the Charles Street store about 9.30pm, after a man armed with a small hatchet demanded money from staff.
Police allege the man jumped the counter before assaulting a 14-year-old male staff member and taking money from the till.
He then left the store and fled the scene on a motorbike, police say.
The male staff member did not sustain any injuries during the incident.
Northern CIB are seeking information from anyone who may have dash-cam footage, or may have seen a motorbike with a rider and a passenger in the Launceston CBD area prior to or after the robbery.
