But the women were unable to make it a home-city double as they fell at the penultimate hurdle to the BTas High Performance side.
The unbeaten Lightning men made short work of the Spartans at Elphin Centre as six players registered double figures in a 100-81 win including US college star Kai Woodfall (19), Elliott Warren (21), Ben Rigby (15) and Sejr Deans (13).
"That was an awesome experience," Woodfall said.
"I grew up playing basketball here so it's great to play with all the guys I grew up with. Brad Gray and I played under-14 regionals together."
Jack Stanwix downed seven three-pointers in his 42-point total for Spartans while teammate Callum Barker stayed at Woodfall's house for the weekend.
"There's been a bit of banter between us," said the host. "Callum's like a brother to me and it's the first time I've played against him since grade 7-8 school champs."
In Sunday's final Lightning will play Penguin who defeated Hobart Phoenix 88-69 largely thanks to 34 points from Reyne Smith.

Coach Mark Radford was delighted with his BTas HP side's 69-47 victory over Lightning's women's side.
"This group is playing beautiful, unselfish basketball and I'm very proud of them," he said of a team featuring Ulverstone sisters Olivia, Zoe and Macey Crawford.
"This squad is ranging over four age groups from bottom-aged 16s to top-age under-20s. They are kids who want to play for Australia and some already have. You've got 16-year-olds coming on against former Torns and I'm really proud of them."
Latrobe Demons await in the final after Launceston Tornadoes duo Ellie Collins (50) and Sarah O'Neill (21) ran amok in the 106-74 semi-final defeat of Hobart Phoenix.
