And while Tasmanians had a day to celebrate in an event that attracted more than 400 interstate competitors, Western Australia's Cath Bellemore won the women's title.
O'Keefe, from Iron Pot Golf Club south of Hobart, had led by a shot going into the final round of the men's A-grade championship. His 76 at Country Club Tasmania on Friday saw him finish with a three-round score of 237.
John Ciezki, from Buninyong in Victoria, finished seven shots back, while Prospect Vale's Rod Campbell, the first-round leader, had a final-round 85 on his home course to finish on 247.
It was another home-state title in B-grade, where Launceston's Rob Sindorff held on to beat Queenslander Graeme Finn by a shot.

Nedlands-based Bellemore's final-round 85 gave her a three-round total of 252 as she became the first winner of the perpetual trophy for the women's championship.
Defending champion Helen Pascoe, of Buninyong in Victoria, finished on 253.
Launceston's Di Godfrey won the division one stableford section with 100 points over the three rounds, one point clear of Smithton's Jill Dixon.
Riverside player Alison Henty was the division two gross winner while clubmate Margaret Bond was the overall women's stableford champion with 101 points.
Colebrook's David Marshall won the men's C-grade stroke event. Barry Berwick, of Riverside, had the best stableford score.
West Australian Peter Schilling gave the event its second hole-in-one when he aced the 17th at Country Club Tasmania.
Tournament director Phillip Atkins said the event had run smoothly with no major problems "apart from the wind, which we couldn't do much about''.
He said the feedback on the event from competitors had been sensational.
"It's been full-on, but it's been a great, successful week," he said.
"We've had more than 140 volunteers who have worked relentlessly all week to make it happen."
A presentation dinner on Friday night wrapped up the week-long event.
