Subjects up for discussion include population growth, the future of the University of Tasmania, CBD retail, the health of the Tamar River estuary and what makes Launceston unique.
The forums form part of the council's community engagement program Tomorrow Together, which is made up of six themes including resilience, design, prosperity, accessibility, inclusivity and sustainability.
Two themes have already been discussed this year, with the council hosting a symposium on resilience at the Queen Victoria Museum and Art Gallery in June and drop-in information sessions at the Seaport on city planning and design in September.
The third theme, a unique and prosperous city, will be discussed over the next fortnight with a series of topical lectures at Macquarie House.

Mayor Albert van Zetten said he hoped the free two-hour sessions would shine a new light on some important topics.
"Launceston is the biggest city in northern Tasmania and having open discussions on these subjects will be important to the city's future," he said.
"A successful city is one that offers work opportunities, vibrant events and activities, contains a diverse population, and one which is willing to explore creative and innovative solutions to problems."
Cr van Zetten said the sessions were a new offering from the council, and asked those attending to provide feedback through Your Voice, Your Launceston.
