However, there is yet to be a development application for the Launceston Skyway proposal lodged with the council.
The Hands off our Gorge has lodged a petition with the council opposing the development application.
It asks the council to oppose the Launceston Skyway development and reject the proposal by withholding landholder consent.

However, no Tasmanian council can reject receiving a development application under the Tasmanian Planning Scheme.
When assessing development applications, councils sit as a planning authority and are required to assess the plan based on the scheme rather than if they do or do not support the proposal.
More than 20 gondola cars along with 13 towers and a main station at the Gorge form part of the proposal.
More than 4500 people have signed the petition against a proposal to install gondolas.
There are 3188 electronic signatures and 1352 paper signatures on the petition.
The group said the skyway proposal at the Gorge was unacceptable.
"The proposed infrastructure would dominate the landscape and the skyline, completely changing the character of the Gorge and forever altering the amenity for locals and visitors," they said.
The Larter group, who already run the Gorge Chairlift, are behind the proposal. The Larter group were contacted for comment.
City of Launceston council will discuss the petition at its meeting on Thursday. The meeting will be held at 1pm at the Town Hall.
