Former independent Lyons candidate Jessica Whelan said she will likely seek re-endorsement from the Liberal party if she chose to run for Parliament at the state or federal level.
Ms Whelan was disendorsed by the Liberal party during the May federal election campaign but continued to run in Lyons as an independent.
Last week, a review of Labor's performance in the election attributed Labor incumbent Brian Mitchell's success in Lyons to the "inflammatory" social media posts made by Ms Whelan.
The report said there would be no reason to assume a similar swing towards the Liberals, as seen in Braddon and Bass, would not have delivered a Liberal victor in Lyons had the controversy not derailed the Liberal campaign.
Ms Whelan said Labor's review findings did not surprise her.
"I was feeling very confident towards the end of the campaign," Ms Whelan said.
"The support I received during and following the campaign was encouraging enough for me to consider running again."
Ms Whelan said it was extremely disappointing her election bid was brought down by a screenshot of a social media post which the people of Lyons were led to believe was made by her.
"It was not my social media post and despite me continually repeating this, I was labelled as guilty without being the opportunity to prove my innocence," she said.
