The incident occurred at Risdon Vale on Friday morning.
Police were intercepting a Nissan Pulsar that had evaded police earlier this morning in the Gagebrook area at the time of the incident.
The vehicle was spiked by police near the Grasstree Hill Road intersection on the East Derwent Highway.
The police officer received non-life threatening injuries.
He was taken to the Royal Hobart Hospital as a precaution.
The driver of the vehicle, and its passenger, were taken into custody after running from the car.
Motorists are asked to avoid the intersection until further notice.
