That's an ambiguous reference to Fletcher returning to the same role the now 57-year-old once held back in 2017.

"I think after a couple of years out, I do feel a bit more refreshed and ready to have another go," Fletcher said.

"I do work for myself and I have established my own business the last couple of years, so I have worked pretty hard at that since [coaching].

"But I always enjoyed the challenge and enjoyed the competition of coaching."

Since Netball Tasmania and Collingwood Magpies had formed its ANL partnership, the parties have swiftly named another new coach each and every single year.

Fletcher, Kate Upton, Elissa Kent, now Fletcher again.

The first man of Tasmanian netball has kept watching but further back from the sidelines between stints and expects to do things differently from the inaugural year.

"The first year when we started, it was really thrown together really quickly if you remember," Fletcher said.

"So one minute we didn't even have a team, the next minute we were already in with the Magpies.

"We had a very limited lead-in time and the whole Magpies program was just brand new.

"The SSN down to ANL was a new deal - we had to start from scratch.

"I think the difference will be that there's three years of an established program. The administration and also the mechanics of the program will be way more settled.

"The lead-in is quite a deal longer than it was last time, so that's a better chance to prepare.

"I can now establish a very solid foundation to prepare on whereas in 2017, it was actually start it from scratch and do it in tweaks."

The Magpies slid down to sixth late with Fletcher in charge before the Tasmanians earned their first national title the next season and a bronze-medal third this year.

Claire Dennis was also named as assistant coach for a third successive season.

Fletcher appreciates the reappointment to guide the returning mentor back onto the same page together.

"She knows areas of the program that I would not say I'm leaning on," Fletcher said, "but I'll certainly will be consulting her knowledge of the program, the competition and even some of the rules like in regards to substitutions because they're all new to me since 2017."

Netball Tasmania chief executive Aaron Pidgeon had been one of the coach's two assistants in his first year.

Pidgeon was happy to sign up Fletcher for just the one year amid the power shift.

"The next year or two we'll do the same thing to keep our options open of what the future may hold," he said.

Netball Tasmania agreed to a new deal with Collingwood on a year-by-year basis following the three-year contract that expired last month.

Pidgeon denied the negotiations had little to do with taking control of the ANL side with a Hobart-based coach.

"We had an open application process with interstate applicants, but we just wanted to get the best applicant into the position," he said.
