Two parents are facing charges after their child allegedly failed to attend primary school, despite there being a Compulsory Schooling Order in place since December.

Darren Lucas, 48, and Launceston woman Jane Lucas, 56, have each been charged with failure to comply with a Compulsory Schooling Order. It is alleged the parents had since February failed to comply with the order's requirement that their son attend East Launceston Primary School.
Prosecutor Virginia Jones told the court Mr Lucas, of Ravenswood, and Ms Lucas were both personally served on October 4 and 5, but the pair failed to appear in the Launceston Magistrates Court on Wednesday.

Compulsory school orders require a student to attend a specific school as detailed and that the parents ensure the student attends.
A parent who breaches the order faces a maximum fine of $2520 and a further fine not exceeding two penalty units for each day the offence continues.
Magistrate Simon Brown ordered a warrant to lie and adjourned the matter to December 16.
