Unify SDA Housing submitted the application to rezone part of the bowls club from recreational to inner residential.
The proposed rezoning would see about 18 land lots for disability housing and associated services constructed on the site.

However, the application is just to rezone the land at this stage.
Plans for housing and the other buildings on the site would subject to future approvals.
North Launceston Bowls Club operates only one of two adjacent lawn bowls facilities, leaving a vacant site that can be utilised for residential development
The rezone application was approved by the council at its meeting last week. All councillors except Tim Walker voted for the proposal.
The plans are intended to be part of the National Disability Insurance Scheme.
Councillors Hugh McKenzie, Karina Stojansek and Andrea Dawkins were not at the meeting.
