Jake Birtwhistle will almost dutifully earn the better part of the Launceston plaudits, but his Noosa Triathlon feats were certainly not the only notable finish on Sunday.

Some 15 hours later that crept into Monday (Tastime) and on the other side of the world, Launceston parkrun convert Lutana Spotswood found the finish line at the New York Marathon.
It was just the 38-year-old's second marathon distance.
The Launceston General Hospital nurse crossed over in a time of 3:48:56, almost smashing 19 minutes off her Melbourne Marathon time recorded 12 months ago.
"NYC marathon now done and dusted, with a sub 4hr finish. Had some annoying gut issues, the last 12km was brutal, so definitely need to work on that," she posted on social media moments later.
The triumph was all the greater on a more treacherous run over New York's five boroughs than through the far flatter Melbourne course.
Gutsy Launceston 51-year-old Leanne Milsom provided a superb race of 4:02:21 in her first attempt at New York.
Amy Bradley - the work colleague who first coerced Spotswood to try her hand at Melbourne - had finished the epic run in a gruelling 4:57:21 to complete the North trio.

TRIATHLON
ALI Foot can again credit Birtwhistle for back-to-back age titles at Noosa on Sunday.
The 2012 Olympic squad rower finished 21st overall - up three places from last year - and the leading competitor in the 30-34 open age group.
Foot, 32, went on to finish the 1.5km swim, 40km cycle and 10km run in 1:55:16 that bettered his 2018 triathlon mark of 2:02:50.
Devonport-born Matthew Rundle went on to finish the open race five places behind Foot in a time 2:02:43.
It proved to be a very close tussle between Launceston triathlon clubmates Alexander Geale (2:07:05) and Oli Cook (2:07:31), who finished 103rd and 113rd overall.
Heidi Edmiston shaved all but 12 minutes after returning to Noosa in 2:35:30.
Other top 20 Tasmanians: Jack Direen (15-19 male) in 2:17:52; Jamieson Hadley (15-19 male) in 2:36:58; Sarah Fitzgerald (45-49 female) in 2:41:03; Peter Adams (60-64 male) in 2:41:49; Sam Thompson (50-54 female) in 2:50:18; Di Webb (50-54 female) in 2:51:48.
