A twilight cocktail party on Friday, October 25 celebrated the history of the Poss'M'agic Childcare Centre and the many lives it has touched since first established more than 35 years ago.
Centre committee member Heidi Howe said the party was aimed at celebrating the centre from it's very beginning.
"We had some of the founding members there who were involved in purchasing the land and getting grants," she said.
"It was really nice to have those first people there, because their children are now 35 to 40 years old and they haven't been in the centre for 25 to 30 years.
"So for them to come back in now and see all their hard work paid of was amazing.
"What impressed me was how many dads were involved at that early stage in the process, and the lobbying of the government."
Ms Howe said it also celebrated some of the longest serving staff members at the centre - Anne Harper and centre director Sue Jones.
"It was really nice that other staff members paid tribute to how much they've learned off them and showed real gratitude for them," she said.
What makes Poss'M'agic special is that most of the children in the region had been to the centre at some point in their life, Ms Howe said.
"Everyone knows Sue. She's the first person to greet everyone when they come in and the last person you say goodbye to as you walk out the door," she said.
"One mum said, 'my kids just think this is Sue's house'. And that's how it has become.
"It's not the world's hugest centre by any means, but it's homey and very community focussed.
"The staff at Possum have had a big impact on everybody's life in the area.
"They've got a real presence down here."
Poss'M'agic is located at 10 Groom Street, St Helens.
