Greater Northern Raiders looked on top early after the Devonport teenager pulled off a remarkable run out.
Kingborough star Dylan Hay smashed his third delivery for four but another three balls later clipped a no-ball in the air straight to O'Mahony.
Showing game awareness, O'Mahony threw down the stumps at square leg as Hay wandered from the crease.
"It's an unusual dismissal, but we'll take it," Raiders coach Andrew Gower said.

The Knights were 2-22 after Jono Chapman combined with captain Alistair Taylor seven balls earlier to remove opener Mitch Backhouse (8).
Captain Trent Keep wrested back the ascendancy with an unbeaten 33 off 32 runs to guide the visitors to 2-63 before bad weather set in.
"It was reward for effort. I thought Chapman was exceptional. He bowled exactly how we wanted him to a plan at full stump," Gower said.
Next week's play in the two-day match will resume an hour earlier at 10am and is set for a further 112 overs.
