One motorcyclist on Monday thought it was a smart idea to drive almost double the 60km/h roadworks speed limit at the Mowbray Connector.
Reckless and dumb for many reasons, but the number one reason the community should feel angry about such actions is the blatant fact a worker or fellow road user could have been killed due to the actions of one individual.
And that's all it takes to dramatically change the lives of many.
Tasmania Police will again be out in force this weekend because it is often at these times when the road toll seems to spike.
People are more relaxed and therefore not paying attention, there is more traffic on roads with people heading to their favourite getaway destination and people generally consume more alcohol and take greater risks behind the wheel.
But simple changes in behaviour can be deadly as we hear too often.
Despite Tasmania Police and the government promoting behaviour expectations through traditional and social forms of media, some people just don't listen.
For the past couple of months, the Your Speed is Our Safety campaign has been running to advise people to slow down in road work areas.
And in Tasmania at the moment there are a lot of roadworks taking place.
The people improving the quality of these roads deserve to go home from work alive.
Other motorists deserve to get to their destination safe and sound.
Your family want you to be about for the next celebration.
So think about your driving behaviour, not only this long weekend but all the time.
Take a rest, call the person back that just tried calling when you stop, wear your seatbelt and stay below the speed limit.
The two road workers who have been killed in Tasmania and the thousands who have scarily died simply driving in Australia in the past decade should be enough to make you think.
