Competing in the Latrobe City Traralgon Challenger event in Victoria last week, the 23-year-old was defeated by 137th-ranked Tatsuma Ito of Japan 6-4 4-6 6-3 but his progression to the third round was enough to break the barrier.

Now residing in Melbourne, the former Pardey Shield winner competed in his first ATP-level event in almost four years last month, tasting defeat to fellow Australian James Duckworth 6-3 6-4.
Bourchier's ranking rise, having started 2019 at 463 in the world, follows a 23-match winning streak and four tournament wins this season, propelling him up the table.
He now sits as the 19th-ranked Australian while fellow young gun Alex De Minaur also enjoyed a weekly rise up the rankings, climbing into the world top 20 after a Basel finals berth against Roger Federer.
