Tasmania Police Sergeant Terry Reaney said the behaviour was not only dangerous to roadwokers and other motorists, it could also cause damage to the roadworks and extend work periods in the area.
"Motorists are reminded to always obey speed limits in roadworks sites - it's for their safety and the safety of road workers," he said.
RACT executive general manager membership and community Stacey Pennicott said the safety of workers on or near public roads should be top of mind during any road safety conversation.
"Road worker safety is everyone's responsibility and we need to be ever vigilant," she said.
"Further, motorcyclists are categorised as vulnerable road users and are over represented in injury and death statistics on our roads."
Two road workers have been killed and six injured in Tasmania since 2005. The Your Speed is Our Safety campaign has been promoting the importance of road safety through ads.
Ms Pennicott said motorists and motorcyclists needed to slow down, not only for their own safety, but for the safety of roadworkers
