Consumption of cannabis and pain relief medication, like oxycodone and fentanyl, in Tasmania is among the highest of all states and territories, a new report has found.

The Australian Criminal Intelligence Commission released its eighth National Wastewater Drug Monitoring Program report on Monday, based on a week of testing in April at 52 sites around the country.
Seven Tasmanian wastewater treatment plants were subjected to the testing.
Testing was undertaken of 13 substances.

The data found alcohol and nicotine were the highest consumed drug of all states and territories - led by the Northern Territory and followed by Tasmania.
It found oxycodone and fentanyl consumption had risen since previous reports, noticeably in Tasmania.
"Regional areas had average oxycodone use well above capital city," the commission said.
The report found consumption of cannabis, oxycodone and fentanyl decreased in capital and regional sites from December to April.
