The Break O'Day Council is asking the Department of State Growth to extend the 60km/h limit from St Helens Point Road.
The limit would see the speed reduced about 100 metres prior to what it already is, and required adjustments be made to the 80km/h zone.
The council has previously requested state growth to review the limit, but the department did not agree at the time.
However, the council said given the St Helens mountain bike trails are close to opening, that it was logical to raise the matter again for reconsideration.
Stage one of the trails St Helens trails are expected to open in November.
At the council's meeting last week, it was unanimously decided to support contacting the department.
Councillor Janet Drummond moved the motion, with councillor Barry LeFevre seconding the motion.
