Emma Manix-Geeves is set to be a cornerstone for New Town in its Cricket Tasmania Premier League T20 fixture.
But the Tasmanian Tigers wicketkeeper will later join the Raiders in December for the competition's division 1 40-over games that includes the state's WBBL stars.
The plot thickens further after Manix-Geeves had been given special dispensation by Cricket Tasmania to return for Riverside on Saturday against five South Launceston-based Raiders.
Simmonds, Riverside's top runscorer in its history, will get the opportunity to break down Manix-Geeves ahead of the clash at Youngtown.
"New Town led by Emma is going to give us a really good challenge," the coach said.
"They have got three pretty good batters at the top of the order and also have got a couple of really good spinners.
"So we are going to work out a way to combat that."

Manix-Geeves scored an unbeaten 38 off 35 deliveries in New Town's seven-run win to start the Bucks' season.
The 19-year-old only made a WNCL debut against Western Australia last month.
Simmonds is adamant the side will not be intimidated again following the Raiders' 21-run over Lindisfarne.
"So we can obviously take some momentum and positives out of that first game as you would expect," he said.
"It was a good reward for the players and committee for getting that first-up win. Lot of hard work has gone into it, so it was a good reward.
"We've all had some pats on the back, but as I said to the girls we have to move forward to this week's game."
The Raiders play their only Youngtown game on Sunday.
Simmonds had to call a recent trial match at the venue to gain some familiarity to it.
"I'd actually say when we played there the other week, it could've been some of girls' first game out there," he said.
