As uncontrolled fires burnt through parts of Tasmania at the beginning of the year, TasWater's aim was to make sure the water supply was maintained.

"During the bushfires in Zeehan, our biggest fears were power outages and water shortages," TasWater Water Services Operator Rachael Evans said.

"We arranged temporary generators in case the fire impacted the town's power supply."

"TasWater also issued alerts to impacted townships, asking them to conserve water to the best of their ability."

"To assist the firefighters, we gave their water-bombing helicopters access to our raw water supply, so we could conserve the treated drinking water supply for the region."
