In a letter displayed on the cash register of the Gunners Arms Tavern bottle shop, residents are told the "sandpit is closed".
"If your name is on the list above, you are no longer welcome to shop at Gunners Arms Liquor Stax," the notice said.
The application to turn the bottle shop into a F45 gym was knocked back by the City of Launceston council at its last meeting.
RELATED STORIES:
About 10 residents spoke against the proposal, however more than 20 made written objections.
Only the residents who spoke at the meeting are named on the banned list.
The residents became aware of the ban when they entered the store.
One resident, who is on the list but did not wished to be named, said they were disappointed.
"[Management] has got every right to express his feelings and opinions, but it seems that as residents we don't," they said.
"The pub closes at 2am on a Friday night, and then classes would start at 5am, so to want to get a few hours of quiet time I didn't feel was unreasonable."
IN OTHER NEWS:
The resident said they were not ashamed to have spoken out against the proposal.
"We're not angry. We're not vindictive. We just stood up and said what we feel and we do appreciate his position, but we're disappointed in this outcome."
Class start times and cars coming and going were the residents' main concerns.
The bottle shop's owner is currently in the process of appealing the council's decision. The bottle shop's tenant also did not wish to comment.
