A West Hobart man has had his car clamped for a month after allegedly being caught traveling at 62km/h more than the speed limit on the Midland Highway.

Tasmania Police said the 21-year-old was driving south at Powranna on Sunday afternoon when he was detected at 172km/h.
The man was issued a fine of $963, given six demerit points and had his licence disqualified for a mandatory period of four months.
His vehicle, a black Subaru Impreza, was also clamped by police for 28 days.
