Tasmanian branch committee member Briony Kidd organised the event at The Star cinema in Invermay.
"We've been building up our membership, and to this point we've mainly been focused in Hobart but now we're looking to get people from all over the state involved." Ms Kidd said.
WIFT Australia formed one year ago with the goal of celebrating the work of women in the film industry and promoting opportunities for them.
"On average across the country around 20% of feature films are directed by women, so we're really keen to see that statistic change and make sure that women are telling their stories equally to men." Ms Kidd said.
