In a bid to start the chaos that is MONA's northern festival, organisers have hidden a yellow and purple Air Mofo plane.
The person that finds the plane first will win the $99,000 prize.
The prize allows the winner and 149 of their friends to arrive at the festival in style on the Air Mofo plane.
Hidden on Mona Foma's online map of Tassie, the eagle eyed winner will the choose 149 of their closest friends, family members, neighbours or strangers to fly with them from the mainland and attend the festival.
Clues to Air Mofo's location can be found within the map, in festival ads and on the Mona Foma website. If you subscribe, you can get more clues.
IN OTHER NEWS:
The search will open from October 10, with it ending on October 14.
The 'Find Air Mofo' winner will be announced on 15 October. The victor has a month to organise their 149 passengers.
Mona Foma curator Brian Ritchie said in the modern world most of us can count our friends on the fingers of both hands.
"So you'll need 30 hands if you're going to fill up your winning Air Mofo flight by finding the location of our Air Mofo jet. It's located somewhere in Tasmania but not somewhere that starts with A, B or Z," he said.
Air Mofo passengers can expect more than your average plane ride, with Mona Foma inspired in-flight entertainment and performances making the trip one to remember.
All passengers will receive a Festival Pass and a return flight home.
The prize, which has been dubbed the biggest prize in Tasmanian festival history, is a partnership between MONA and Tourism Tasmania.
Tourism Tasmania chief executive John Fitzgerald said he is pretty sure something like this has never been done before.
"There's probably a good reason for that. Nonetheless, hopefully this promo gets mainlanders exploring every square satellite metre of our amazing island," he said.
"Who knows where the plane is hidden? I don't. They won't tell me. I'd put it on a beach."
Air Mofo will fly from Melbourne or Sydney and is set to land in Launceston on Friday 17 January to kick off the main festival weekend. Mona Foma will take over Launceston from 11-19 January, 2020.
